Approach

I offer therapy, supervision, and spiritual direction. My approach to each of these is integrative, which means I draw on a combination of the different modalities I’ve trained in to help people. I approach things this way with the intention of responding holistically to the uniqueness of a person’s being and circumstances.

In therapy, we explore and reflect on the difficulties you’re having to help you make sense of your situation, deepen your understanding of yourself, and develop your capacity to bring about the change you’re seeking.

In supervision, we explore and reflect on your work with clients to refine your effectiveness as a practitioner, developing your skills, fostering your self-awareness, and promoting your wellbeing.

In spiritual direction, we explore and reflect on the spirituality or depth dimension of your life and your relationship with the Divine Presence, however you name and conceive of this Presence. We explore the possibilities of opening to, abiding in, and receiving guidance from this Presence.

I also offer other forms of spiritual care and guidance, including practice circles, retreats, and workshops. For more information about these, please visit my website: philipparanby.co.nz

Background & Experience

I’ve been working therapeutically with people for 25 years, initially as a remedial massage therapist and then as a counsellor and creative arts therapist. I’ve worked in non-government organizations and secondary schools, trained counsellors and creative arts therapists in tertiary contexts, and offered other independent professional development learning opportunities. I’m now working solely in private practice.
