Fees and Funding

Counsellors and psychotherapists at The Arahura Centre are self-employed on a private practice model. Each is responsible for setting their own fees. For more information on how a therapist charges, please contact them directly or contact the Centre with a general enquiry.

There are a range of subsidies that you may qualify for to help with the cost of therapy, including:

ACC funding for sensitive claims:

If you are seeking therapy in connection with psychological and emotional injury caused by sexual abuse, and this abuse has occurred in New Zealand, you may be eligible to have the costs of your therapy funded through ACC. Most therapists who work at The Arahura Centre are ACC registered. WINZ Disability Allowance:

If you have a psychological condition that is preventing you from engaging in full-time work, or affecting your ability to work, you may be eligible for funding through the disability allowance – an approximately $60 per session counselling subsidy through Work and Income New Zealand. Please click here to contact us if you have any questions about this process, and if you wish to discuss your needs and preferences further.

Arahura Trust Fund:

If you cannot meet the full costs of therapy yourself, and you are not eligible for any of the above funding, you may be eligible for a subsidy from The Arahura Trust Fund. This is a small, privately funded trust fund designed to help adults and children and youth who are engaged in counselling and therapy at our centre. Please speak to a therapist at the Centre for more information, or click here to contact us and request more information.
