Gerry JellymanM.Ed (Couns), Dip. Teaching, MNZAC, PBANZ
Registered Psychotherapist, ACC Registered Counsellor, & Supervisor

Following a career in secondary teaching, I completed the M.Ed in Counselling while working with couples in Relationship Services and then undertook psychotherapy training through the Arahura Centre. Over the last 20+ years counselling adults I have integrated a number of theoretical approaches. Primarily psychodynamic and person centred, my work is less about my way of working and more about finding what is helpful for each client with their particular circumstances.

For the last 6 years I have been the course co-ordinator for the Bachelor in Counselling at Vision College, so teaching and supervision is still an important part of my passion particularly for beginning therapists, but I also supervise other educational and health professionals.

I believe strongly in our capacity as human beings to grow in love, resilience and self-awareness but sadly see we are often thwarted from reaching our potential through the difficulties life throws our way. Accompanying another to recover from difficulties and develop a healthier more satisfying life feels a sacred task. I’m interested in the whole person, body, mind and spirit, and work with both adult (over 16) individuals and couples with whatever issues they bring.
Fees are always negotiable but generally range from $100-$150. I am registered with ACC for sexual abuse work and assist in getting WINZ subsidies where applicable.

Outside of work I enjoy kicking back with family and friends, gardening, biking, tennis and nurturing my own spiritual growth.
