Mark was born in Bombay, India, and came to New Zealand with his family in the mid-1980s. His water is the Arabian Sea. His ‘mountain’ is Malabar Hill. On his mother’s side, his family are from Scottish borderland clans and Cumbrian dissenters. On his father’s side, his family are Catholic, escaping the Irish potato famines to settle in Manchester, Northern England, in the late 19th century. He describes his heart as spread between the green British Isles, great dusty India, and this ancient-new world, Aotearoa.

Mark is a registered psychotherapist who works from a gestalt therapy perspective. Like most counsellors and psychotherapists, he works with both the ‘shadow’ and the ‘light’ of our humanness. The light – our potential for personal and spiritual growth, for a richer joy of living, for the deep peace that comes from simply being. The shadow – what scares and scatters us; our unresolved grief and loss, trauma, confusion, disconnection, addiction, anxiety and depression.

A wise man once said: The deepest form of suffering is to face the world alone. Anything can be navigated if there is someone to accompany us. Mark is committed to being a real, alive presence alongside his clients, as well as offering his knowledge and skill. Mark has specialist training in mind-body issues – physical symptoms and illness for which subjective, life-stress factors may be playing a significant role.

Mark is an ACC provider of therapy for sensitive claims.

Fees are $80–$110 per session.
